About Gitanjali
Hi, I’m Gitanjali
Welcome to my page!
I am a writer, Motivational Speaker, and a Life/Executive Coach
Coaching and Counselling
A Coach certified by the International Coaching Federation (ICF), I coach and counsel women and men who wish to sort out relationship issues with partners or spouses, or parents and parents in law, or just wish to become a better version of themselves.
I mentor young executives who have achieved early success but want to try their hand in a completely different field;
I coach mid- career professionals, who believe they have reached a road- block in their career trajectories. Helping these professionals go on to achieve their career objectives has been deeply satisfying.
Motivational and Keynote Speaker
A motivational and keynote speaker, I have spoken at Citibank, Pepsi, Fluor, IIM, Calcutta, Lady Shri Ram College, Public Sector companies.
I have an instant connect with the audience and you can look forward to an engaging session that will energise and motivate the team.
Conducting Workshops
I have been a short -term Consultant on the Indian family to Star TV and done full day workshops for organisations such as mjunction (a leading e-commerce company) and the Park Hotels.
Role playing, and other stimulating exercises will ensure the audience will re-evaluate opinions and behaviours to become more positive and productive.
Research on the Family
As a Press Fellow at Wolfson College, Cambridge University, UK, I spent the Easter term, researching the family. My research paper was much appreciated. An excerpt was published in the FPSC (Family Policies Study Centre), UK, and I was also interviewed on the subject by the BBC.
Author, Free Lance Journalist, Columnist
“The Great Indian Family: New Roles, Old Responsibilities” (Penguin 2006) was a pioneering book that explored how work had influenced values, relationships and lifestyles in middle class urban India.
It was extensively covered in both the national and international media and is in libraries worldwide. NDTV did an entire “One Life to Love” programme on the book. It helps both men and women, why some values are so important in traditional families and how best to manage family expectations with an individual’s desires for greater freedom and autonomy.
In print since the age of 14, I have had columns on Parenting, Food, Work-Life balance, and Humour, in leading magazines and newspapers. I have written for The Times of India, The Hindustan Times, The Hindu, The Indian Express, The Independent; the Reader’s Digest, Business India, Cosmopolitan, Good Housekeeping, and Gentleman magazine.
I was the Bureau Chief (Eastern Region) of Magna Publishing Company for 8 years and wrote regularly for group magazines including Savvy, Society, Health and Nutrition etc
Ghost Writer, Content Writing
I am just completing the commissioned biography of a major Indian industrialist.
I have also written and edited work for the Harvard Business School; The Asia Development Bank; Pepsico etc
For 8 years, while at the Confederation of Indian Industry, I have written and edited articles for the CII magazine, Communique. I also wrote speeches on a wide range of issues for senior CII personnel, politicians of all parties, senior bureaucrats and corporates.
Summing up
In a way, all the different things I did in my life, Advertising and Public Relations; Feature writing, being a columnist on the “Tears and Joys of motherhood”, and also “Family Matters” for the Economic Times; Business journalism; Research on the family at Cambridge University; authoring the book, “The Great Indian Family: New Roles, Old Responsibilities”, followed by 8 years at the Confederation of Indian Industry, give me a unique perspective on many of the challenges individuals have to face in their lives and careers. This enriches my writing, my speaking assignments and my coaching and counselling.
I think you can call it serendipity!
Come, reach out to me, in case you’d like coaching and counselling to give your career a boost, or have truly harmonious relationships; or if there’s writing work to be done, I assure you quality work, delivered on time.
